MISTRAS has started on the installation of 640 strategically placed acoustic emission sensors mounted on the Oakland Bay Bridge to provide 24/7 remote structural health monitoring to 384 critical eye bars for the early detection of fatigue defects. In the event of an alarm, the new system will contact bridge operating personnel immediately to initiate a full inspection.
